kherstLPB3
HI, I have a 2006 R9 but for some I get an emulating sound on the third string. All the strings when strung were clean and sustain well, but the third string sounds kinda dead and doesn't sustain much. I'm using gauge 9 string, the nut seems ok,a dn the neck seems straight, Any help and suggestions are highly appreciated.
80LPC
Is your action too low ? Also the neck ideally should have a small amount of curvature (relief) to allow for the elliptical vibration of the strings.
Swmcv2007
Get the nut looked at. I had that problem on my 2004 SG Standard. After a little while the G also had a lot of trouble staying in tune no matter how new the strings were. It's very annoying because the G string is usually the root note or at least a note thats very important. In my opinion its the juiciest string for solos.
