It was more akin to the wild west than the fairly dull forum it is today.. Really.. You had to have some real thick skin back then I can tell you. By most standards this forum is pretty tame and mostly welcoming unless of course you start talking politics or religion (or nibs and tonewood).. In which case you get what you deserve... It's just the latest issue in the news that has divided people. Really, who needs Spotify or Neil Young or Joe Rogan or the Gibson forum. None of that is important in anyone's personal lives or at least they shouldn't be. Recent events don't take anything away from anyone's musical legacy. I like a lot of musical artists who probably weren't the best people in their personal lives. Beethoven has a reputation of not being the best guy. BUT he had an abusive alcoholic dad and his mom suffered from severe depression. Maybe some people on this forum have similar stories and that's why they are hard to get along with sometimes. I'm still figuring out how to feel OK about the way I'm treated sometimes. I haven't cracked the code yet. My advice is to take a vacation from the things that upset you and put your energy into something else. Then see if you miss it and want to come back. He will be back. I'm here to see guitar porn. Yes the people leaving Spot have a long and storied careers (I have seen Neil, Bob x3, and CSN x2 all in concert), but would they attract the attention or even get recording contracts today in this day and age? 40 Years and I don't always see I to I, but his statement was spot on. They want to tell us what they think, and say they support free speech as long as it aligns with their view and agenda. If someone disagrees with me....fine.... if someone thinks I'm stupid....fine..... My political beliefs are known to anyone who wants to know. I've always run counter to 'normal'....my dad used to tell me, "You're deathly afraid of mediocrity" I suppose he was right. I like to think outside the box.... no one here offends me in the slightest. I made a good friend on this forum, who (after maybe 5-6 years) cut me out of his life because of politics....couldn't even tell you where Fred is now.
