frankster
Greetings, I have owned this '89 junior for maybe 10 years. It is from the period where they were making the DC reissues. However, this one is weird and I want to know if I am dealing with something kinda unique and perhaps collectable~ish or nah. In the late '80s they were making the DC reissues then with rosewood fretboards. This one is ebony. The headstock logo on mine is mother of pearl inlay and not the decal sticker you seen on juniors from this time. I called gibson and talked with a tech many years ago. The guy on the phone thought that since this guitar was made prior to the custom shop, that it was likely a custom order guitar. He then asked that I follow up the call with an email and pictures, which I did. Of course he never responded and I just let it go. Any opinions here on this situation? How often did gibson switch up wood and decals on this model. My guess is not often. Any value in a one off like this? I am going to take it to a local luthier as well, for all I know it could be a frankenstein. Edit to add these pics. Opinions appreciated! merciful-evans
I cant help much with the query but I took a chance (some links are malicious) and followed your link. 1st impression looks legit, though I am no expert. I was unable to embed your pics. I strongly suggest using a pic hosting site and linking from there (eg: IMGUR). Also supply more pics. What type of truss rod is it? It should not be a hex socket. Take a look under the pickup for markings too. That can have info to verify also.

Nothing under the pickups.
frankster
Aha! I found another one just like it with some advanced googleing. https://www.dominicblaazer.net/copy-of-new-equipment. Perhaps not the one-off I thought but rare nonetheless it seems.
mihcmac
Looks pretty normal for a Les Paul Junior Double Cut, an improved version in its era, as the original versions used 3 in a row Kluson style tuners, wrap-around bridges, different types of fat caps including Bumble Bees and a 50's style chunky neck, in addition the P90's usually had springs or foam under the coil with mounting screws going through them. During the 80's the DC's were very desirable and not a lot of them available. The most sought after 50's version was the TV yellow Les Paul TV Double Cut. Your LP JR DC being in an unusual configuration could be valued at what ever the market will bare. The current Les Paul Junior Double Cut. Nice job with pics & research. That is a very tasty looking DC. That appears to be an ebony fingerboard as well, which I absolutely love.
