TRH189
I finally took delivery of my new 335 yesterday evening. Shipment was delayed over the weekend until yesterday. I noticed right away that there are quite a few finish checking marks all over the back of the neck, near the bridge, and some on the back of the body, and along the sides. Is this a cause for concern or just cosmetic? I don't mind the look, just don't want to run into any major issues down the road especially where it meets the binding. It was in the 60's today and my house was only several degrees warmer inside. Also waited the recommended 3-4hrs per the wording on the factory Gibson box. It's difficult to see in this lighting and not too noticeable while holding the guitar. Seems like the light has to hit it just right. SteveFord
You can loosen the strings up all the way and see if a crack propogates. I wouldn't keep it no matter what.
jdgm
Send it back if you can. From your shots it is definitely not as it should be. The length wise cracks along the side look like you could get a fingernail into them but either way they are not acceptable, nor is the straight gouge in your 3rd shot at the nut. Good luck! Sgt. Pepper
Did you buy it new? It could have been dropped. Those lines are really straight for lacquer crack.

The crack coming from the nut is long enough to be a concern, even if it is a finish crack. The one going lengthwise is really odd looking. To me, it looks like it could be natural and in the wood, but I doubt it. Never seen anything like that one. All considered, I'd not take any chances and send it back. Big Bill
That looks like more than just checking in the nitro! I agree with everyone above, I would try and return it.
