Murph
I've been using that stuff for decades. I can't remember NOT using it. I'm addicted to it. Even when I used Elixir strings I used it. I'm going to use some today. This picture is 15 years old and poof, there it is. Edited March 8, 2022 by Murph
DanvillRob
I remember it from the 60's. I never used it much....I wasn't a lead player, so it didn't really help me...but I do recall it. We used flat-would strings...and for most electric stuff, they were okay....I LIKE to hear the string noise now.
Kwlsky
I actually like the smell of that stuff. To me it smells like cherries. Maybe I'm crazy.

Buc McMaster
I used if for awhile years back when the band was doing a lot of outdoor gigs in the summer heat on the gulf coast. It is often heard that nitro finishes get sticky and tough to move on and that was indeed my issue back in the day. Maybe my body chemistry has changed with age but I no longer have any trouble with a dry nitro finished neck.......no stickiness at all regardless of environment Go figure..... Murph
I never used it on the back of the neck, Buc. Maybe a little when my J-45 was new (which is now nearly 20 years). I just like it on the strings.

Do the acoustic guys smell everything guitar related? I'm gonna take a big whiff of my capo in a second. Edited March 8, 2022 by Sgt. Dave F
Never used Finger Ease. My problem was gripping the pick. I used Gorilla Snot for that but I don't remember how it smelled or taste.
Salfromchatham
I know you’ve all been sworn in and I’ve read your complaints. My ruling: I am pretty sure that MLB and the NFL banned these. If professional sports can ban slick and sticky fingers, so can the Gibson Forum. Remember, don’t take the law into your own hands…. Take em to court. The Gibson Court.

merciful-evans
I've never heard of it. So I did some research. Found these among others: Quote Finger Ease Guitar String Lubricant Reduces String Squeak And Finger Soreness. Tone Finger Ease lubricant is very popular and allows you to speed up your fingering while reducing finger soreness. It extends string life and eliminates drag from strings and from the back of the neck Quote Since 1963, Tone Finger-ease has been making sure fretboards all over the world have been smooth and slick. You want a frictionless fretboard, after all, your performance should be the only thing blistering, not your fingertips! This string spray allows for much smoother guitar playing, letting your fingers glide without friction along the strings. String Squeak / Friction: I don't get this because I let go of the neck and strings when changing position. Finger soreness: I don't suffer with this. Speeds up fingering: Even if it does (and I doubt it) there's no necessity for AFAIC. Extends string life: Now that does sound useful. Kwlsky
Geez. Lizard Spit, Gorilla Snot.... I didn't realize being gross was such a good marketing strategy.

I am a big boy and can hold my guitar pick all by myself without the assistance of a sticky green snot-like material. Is anyone gonna say that when they sniffed their guitar, or guitar related product that is smells like a$$? Edited March 9, 2022 by Sgt. Is Gibson Court like a Kangaroo Court or The Peoples Court, ya know a TV show with BS law suits presided over by a clown in a judges robe who passes fake sentences for petty crimes against humanity. You put Martin strings on your Gibson J-45, 2 weeks in the time out chair for you. Edited March 9, 2022 by Sgt. Pepper

BoSoxBiker
Martin strings once bit my sister. Speaking of which, I think it's time for Martina to come out and play. Just did dishes....20 minutes. And who doesn't like Grape Kool-Aide, right?

kidblast
I've never used the stuff, but I'm often amazed and amused at how we wander off topic, and circle back to the root occasionally. it's like ... a discussion board .. or something... murph good to have you back as a regular again.
