Sell 500 Gibson guitars a month for 12 months. Then go talk with their CEO -- he'll know your name by that time. Figure one store is good for about 10 a month, but maybe an Internet site will move a few also. Make sure the stores are located in larger cities (larger markets). Create some ties with music departments at high schools and community colleges (deals for the students, bonuses for band directors) (Carry your own paper so that you make the interest too). Donate un-sellable trade ins to Boys Clubs and YMCA and get a lot of free publicity. Sponsor some clubs (bluegrass, blues, folk, swing). Sell up-sale products like straps, cases, polish, amps, insurance, stands so you can make more mark upon those. Have teaching seminars on how to play Gibsons and tell WHY Gibsons are better all through the seminars. Include half of the seminar price in the purchase of a guitar. Include all the Gibson buyers in a drawing for a vintage Gibson at the end of the year. Or some other goody. Have a Gibson celeb sign something at all the Gibson sales events. Give a Gibson factory tour free to anyone who wants to go there (at their expense) Guarantee you will buy the Gibson back at list price for the next 5 years if there are no dings or changes to the guitar. Get your guitars seen with girls, horses, pop musicians.
