About a year ago I posted a couple of photos of the book by John Fogerty,  where he mentions my old band.

Now I've found a book by Greil Marcus that is  primarily about The Band, Sly Stone and Elvis, "Mystery Train"....

and son of a gun if we aren't mentioned in conjunction with Creedence again!

Just kinda cool to be remembered after more than half a century!

May be an image of text that says 'UP BEND AROUND THE Hue oral history of CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL THRISTRO Craig Werner'No photo description available.
May be an image of text
May be an image of text that says 'MYSTERY TRAIN IMAGES IMAGESOF OF AMERICA IN ROCK ROCK''ROLL Ν' ROLL MUSIC GREIL MARCUS SIXTH EDI ION'
No photo description available.

Great! I cant get the direct link from your pics but found 'open image in new tab' brings it up well enough to read.

Very cool to be referenced in a text like this.

Thanks.  I guess I'm not sure what these posts look like to others.... I thought the photos were opened up in the post body.

I don't know why we are mentioned in connection with Creedence....we never played a gig with them that I remember.

I was told the John Fogerty used to come watch us, but his band would have been called The Gollywogs at that time, and hadn't make it big yet.

We were also mentioned in a promotion for Grand Funk Railroad....again, not sure why...and I don't recall ever doing a gig with them.

That is very cool to be mentioned in (at least so far) 2 books.  Congrats brother.

Thanx merciful-evans for the tip how to open the photos. 👍

You're right it is kinda cool.    Long ago I posted about a book that was about the bands of the SF Bay Area, of which my photo is on the cover.   That book has 3 editions..... I know the second and third editions are in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame....maybe even the first edition, but I'm not sure.  It's all fun.

...."fighting a battle of the bands with Peter Wheat and the Breadmen"......

Who won?

🎸

Doubt it ever happened.... We NEVER participated in any Battle of the Bands as Peter Wheat.... we did play as special guests at them, but never competed.
