Mike Noble
Last year I traded seven guitars to get three Classic Gibsons. I got a 2019 Les Paul Classic, a 2020 ES335 Dot, and a Hummingbird Studio in walnut. So…. The LP and 335 are sweet. Took them to my luthier had them set up as I like them . Wow. Had the Hummingbird set up as well. Sounds great. Plays well. Light as a feather. BUT…… Gibson’s idea of a pickup system is so very poor. You can’t see the controls and they are minimal. Changing the battery? Ridiculous! How could Gibson create such a poor way to change a battery? And… you have no real control over the tone and amplification. this is my first time on this forum. I would appreciate any input. Because of this, I am considering buying a Maton guitar and then selling my Hummingbird. I wish I didn’t have to. But I see no alternative. Please send your comments. thanks!

Twang Gang
Don't give up. I have 2 Hummingbirds with the VTC pickups in them. The controls are simple, a volume and a tone, they are conveniently located in the sound hole, I don't think you really need to see them to operate them. The batteries don't need changing very often. Not as often as strings need changing, so just change the battery out during a string change. Perhaps you need a different acoustic amp so you can shape the tone more to your liking? You say the guitar "Sounds great. Plays well." But you're going to get rid of it because changing the battery isn't as easy as you'd like? To me the sound and playability are way more important than how you change a battery.
