1982 custom shop

My wife bought me this brand new in 1983 from a local music shop. I love the guitar. I have never seen one of these with the cream colored pick guard. Can anyone provide any information? Every other one I’ve seen has the black pick guard. Is it possible the music shop swapped it out before they sold it?

I'm wondering if it's 'custom' because of the cream pickguard and also the tuners. I can't honestly say I've seen tuners with that specific Gibson logo on them. Maybe they were common but they're not ringing a bell with me at all.  Also, it has a TP-6 fine tuning tailpiece, which was a popular 'add-on' in the day. If this came on the guitar from the factory, that would make it custom as well, as it was not standard for the 335 dot.

Beautiful guitar.
