I went to Charley's in Dallas a few weeks ago, as they have a large selection of Collings. They were finished so impecably I was afraid to touch them!

I'm glad you had no such fear, and hope you enjoy yours!

By the way, lest anyone needs more convincing to visit Austin (and you REALLY should...). Collings gives a factory tour every other Friday. They list the dates on their website.

One time I spent an afternoon at Mandolin Brothers on Staten Island and had the chance to play JJW's D-45 that was there on consignment (probably around 1994 or so). Really regretted I didn't have the $10k or $15k they were asking for it...+:-@

Lyle plays almost exclusively Collings guitars. If you listen to his CDs especially "Come Inside my House" you will here some amazeing sounds coming from a Collings CJ and D1A guitars! He is good friends with Bob Collings suburude

Acoustic Guitar Magazine has an ad with Lyle Lovette playing one that looks to be the same guitar or close.
