drathbun
Before anyone responds to this thread... it is about music, guitars and peace... nothing else. This photo fills me with so much joy! My guitar hero when I was 14... playing a J200 once again! and me in 1974 trying to be just like him!

drathbun
Here is the Cat playing "If I Laugh" on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1971 with his flamed maple J200. It took me years to figure out how to play this song. Actually it took until I saw this video on the Majikat DVD that I figured it out. He is actually playing it here in open E! (EBEG#BE) I would never subject a guitar to that much tension. I play it by tuning to open D (DADF#AD) and then capo at 2 to get to open E. I suppose he could afford to collapse a J200 then. But a J200 is built like a brick shite house anyway. Great song, great guitar, great singer, lousy pants. PS: anyone know the whereabouts of this guitar? Yusuf shed all of his musical possessions and I heard that this guitar eventually ended up on ebay. Nice to see Yusuf has a replacement. How about a Yusuf Islam signature model Gibson? No? Hmmm.... Gilliangirl
I loved Cat Stevens when I was young. I remember listening to his albums, and staring at the albums covers.... even those were good...... Teaser and the Firecat, Tea for the Tillerman. It wasn't until years later that I found out that Lady D'Arbanville was written about Patti. I had so many favourites of his but my top ones would probably be Tuesday's Dead, Lady D'Arbanville, Wild World, Bitter Blue, Peace Train. Yeah, I'd better stop now lol

Of course I love all the popular ones from "Where Do The Children Play" and "Father and Son" to "Moonshadow" (children love this song... they whirl around the room and dance to it even when I'm playing it!). My special fav's are: The Wind If I Laugh I've Got This Thing About Seeing My Grandson Grow Old
Gilliangirl
"I listen to the wind, to the wind of my soul....." Yup, I forgot about that one. That was a fav. Where Do The Children Play and How Can I Tell You are two more that I loved. Oh, and the artwork. I loved the artwork. Such a nice walk down memory lane.... TWilson
I still have the sheet music for "Morning Has Broken" from the early 70's. It cost $1.00 !! It has Cat's life-size mug on the front.
peiplayer
I met Cat Stevens once in Jamaica when I still lived there. I was only interested in finding out everything he knew about Dylan....he was a tad p.o. at me!
