RBSinTo
A question that just ocurred to me: Is it a good idea to humidify guitars being stored in gig bags as is done with guitars stored in hard cases? Please and thsnks. RBSinTo
kidblast
Good question to bring up. I don't think the gig bag creates the same kind of isolation that a hardshell case will offer. Then again it might depend on the gig bag, some are for sure better than others. Maybe the semi-hard cases that are kind of in between a gig bag and a HSC would be an exception? Sgt. Pepper
Depending on how much air the gig bag let’s in will probably make the humidity device (sponge or packs) just have a shorter life, and/or you will need to replace the water in the sponge or packs more often. Just a guess. Edited June 21, 2022 by Sgt. Pepper
Twang Gang
Doesn't matter what type of case the guitar is stored in it should still remain about 45-50% relative humidity. Need a hygrometer to tell humidity level of the guitar - if it is too low you would need to humidify it.
marco mancini
I keep a boveda 49% on gibson gig bag which stores a firebird and i just squeeze the envelope between the neck pick up and the strings
