Hi there,

I recently purchased a Gibson 2021 SG Standard 1961 and I want to remove the arm off the sideways vibrola but I'm not able to find a proper way to make it.

Here's how mechanism looks like without cover.  Any idea?

Gezzus. That is some feet of mechanical engineering? Its got fulcrums and pivot points and springs and leavers.

It looks like you'd have to put it in a hydraulic press (or improvise something with a large shop vice) and press out those three those pivot bushings.

I'd leave it, that's what makes the model what it is.

I've never seen one of those uncovered before. Looks impressive.

Looks like it wouldn't work anymore if the whole arm came out, and I would think the remaining parts would not be captive either (they would rattle or fall off).

But the extension part looks easy enough to lose. Just a nut to remove.

Interesting.
