Homz Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Less and less do you need to force things, until finally you arrive at non-action. When nothing is done. Nothing is left undone. The meek shall inherit the earth. How about posting some secular quotes from religious sources. Like the above from the Tao Te Ching, or the second one from the New Test.
Homz Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 How about a thread on guitars?? Start one. I've kind of seen them all. If I have a specific guitar or equipment question I'll ask.
daveinspain Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 We are all guitars in the hands of God... How well he plays depends on the quality of the instrument. If you are in tune with the world around you wonderful harmonies can be created... if you are not he plays like sh*T... Edit: If you don't like the word God replace it with whatever works for you...
Bluemoon Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 "Dilution is not the solution to pollution" My high-school science teacher.
deepblue Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 How about a thread on guitars?? lol! :) To exist is to suffer.
wicked1 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 lol! :) To exist is to suffer. Ain't it the truth?? And I think I am the one that turned the Homz onto the Tao Te Ching....
Homz Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 geezzz it wasn't meant to be a controversy. I had my copy of the Tao Te Ching and was reading some cool quotes. The reason I said a secular quote was because I really think it's a chance for others who are religious to show their texts can be interesting on many levels.
wicked1 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 " What do you think of the rectum as a hole?" It's overrated. There are much better holes to be found.
callen3615 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 It's overrated. There are much better holes to be found. Hmmm. Ok.
daveinspain Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 " What do you think of the rectum as a hole?" I think it stinks....
Homz Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Tao Te Ching If you realize all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If your not afraid of dieing, there is nothing you can not achieve. Trying to control the future is like trying to take the master carpenter's place. When you handle the master carpenter's tools chances are you will cut your hand. When taxes are to high, people go hungry. When the government is to intrusive, people lose their spirit. Act for the people's benefit. Trust them; leave them alone.
Homz Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Tao Te Ching Men are born soft and supple; dead, they are stiff and hard. Plants are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry. Thus who ever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Who ever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail.
Hoyt Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 The meek shall inherit the earth. The right wingers will freak out thinking about that one.
TinFish Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I was going to put a bunch of my favorite quotes but, I soon realized I would have to copy/paste like 50 quotes and that didn't seem like fun to me. "I ask for life – for life Divine Where man's true self may move In one harmonious cord to twine The threads of Knowledge and of Love." - H. Sidgwick
FirstMeasure Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I invite you all to sing the Fifty-third Calypso Oh, a sleeping drunkard Up in Central Park, And a lion-hunter In the jungle dark, And a Chinese dentist, And a British queen-- All fit together In the same machine. Nice, nice, very nice; Nice, nice, very nice; Nice, nice, very nice-- So many different people In the same device.
saturn Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 He who go to bed with itchy heiny, wake up with smelly finger. He who go to bed with sex on mind, wake up with solution in hand.
Homz Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Tao Te Ching Failure is an opportunity. If you blame someone else, there is no end to the blame. Therefore the Master fulfills her own obligations and corrects her own mistakes. She does what she needs to do and demands nothing of others.
