Best bang for the buck

I'd vote for the new Traditional Pro - weight relieved not chambered, Coil taped and waxed BB3 and 57 classic, nickel hardware gloss vintage finish with satin back and neck even pleck'd all for under 2k what's not to love. A lot of people talk about the VM and while it might be the cheapest overall still have to take into account that's it's still so FUGLY...

you cant rule out the standard for this look at what it comes with tone pros locking bridge and tail peace, asymetrical neck (very comfy), Grover locking tuners, bourns gold plated pots, and locking input jack. for about 2500 canadian not bad. and yes the traditional is great for the price but the tuners suck and the wheght releaving is just holes drilled where ever in the body with no thought or purpose but lowering wheght. the chamberd bodys are desined for resonance and more tone and lightness.

In my opinion the Traditional should be worth more' date=' Its a great Guitar for any price.[/quote']

you are correct jesus im just saying that alot of people nock the standar to the traditional, they are 2 guitars with differnt features that offer differnt value to players.

Traditional/Traditional Pro... I don't know if either are a particularly good bang for your buck.

But for Gibson Les Pauls they are both reasonable and are both nice.

Well when you compare them to the Custom Shop Les Pauls they become very cheap guitars.

Hell even the Les Paul Standard is cheap compared to a Custom Shop.

Yeah, for a Gibson Les Paul they are where I would spend my money.

I just have trouble calling a $2500(Can.) guitar a good bang for your buck.

I might just be cheap though or have different priorities than others.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.... The VM is a very classy looking guitar. OK, it's not all shinny and it doesn't have any flames or anything but it's a cool looking guitar... Now the BFG is another story +:-@

No, chambers are designed to reduce weight, just as the swiss cheese holes were 30 years ago.

They can market it however they like but the truth is, it's to reduce weight. Otherwise, every Standard they pumped out would be 10 lb +.

+1 IMO, the VM is a lot of Les Paul for the money and also a very good looking guitar in it's own right.

This is off topic to the original question, but I feel as guitarists, we are so lucky we can get such great instruments for such reasonable prices, compared to other instruments!

for a few hundred £ $ you can get something that stays in tune/expresses your abilities, for £1000/$1000 you can get a pro sounding instrument!

Worth every penny!!

+1.

I was reading this thinking.

My daughters '08 Les Paul Studio is a glossy Fireburst, nice finish, gold hardware (she picked it, I didn't used to like Gold, but it works with the Fireburst and no pickguard) 490R/498T, nice case, ect. I got it for her Birthday last Nov. for $1217.00 American, as I recall. Musicians Friend (special email discount thingy), no tax, no freight.

The VM is cool and all, but this burst looks as good as it sounds. If I liked a single cut, I'd buy myself one in a heartbeat.
