myspace.com/jessenoah Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 thoughts? opinions? Does anyone remeber the movies where someone would get shot, they would grab their cheat, and fall to the ground, and let the theature of the mind fill in the blanks Some modern movies are so graphic, even the most mature of audiences shouldnt watch them i just saw a movie, dear lord, the amount of tissue disruption was mind numbing
Flight959 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I know what your sayin Jess. Sometimes there is too much detail. I think some films need it like Saving Private Ryan or the Band Of Brothers Series... It helps the director to get the meassage accross... I saw No Country For Old Men the other day and thought that was just over the top on the blood gore... Flight959

I dont need the movie to show me ever ounce of flesh and blood, the theature of the mind is a great thing that allows us to connect with and enjoy the movie more. Some of these films are just getting stupid, I didnt know that blood could squirt from a imploded head like it did in the movies............ and i didnt want to know anyway!

wicked1 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I didnt know that blood could squirt from a imploded head like it did in the movies............ and i didnt want to know anyway! It probably can't. I've seen the inside of the human body up close. It's nothing I want to see on the big screen. (Be thankful there's no smell-o-vision!)
FirstMeasure Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 To tell you the truth i prefer comedies over action movies. Yeah, like "Tropic Thunder". That movie needed the gore 'cause it was making fun of war movie gore. On Topic, I think if it's graphic violence for the sake of graphic violence, it's just cheap and not entertaining. But if it works in the movie, like "The Cleaner" with Samuel Jackson, it can make the movie. I'd rather watch a John Wayne movie, myself, but If it's done right, gore's ok.
Homz Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 When a movie is obviously fantasy/horror like the Living Dead movies I can stand some of the violence, but when it's real life potential like in "Scarface" I can't watch it. There are a few movies that I admit were great movies, but I will never watch again. "Scheindler's List", "The Deer Hunter", and "Saving Private Ryan" come to mind.
myspace.com/jessenoah Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 lmao there are things i would never want to experience, the torture of a helpless human comes to mind (oh snap, cue the wateboarding debate)
Gilliangirl Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I don't watch any of that stuff anymore. It makes me anxious and leaves me feeling awful. Who needs that? There's also studies done that have found that kind of stuff desensitizes us to violence. We come to see it as 'normal'. And who needs that? Thanks but no thanks. I watch stuff that makes me feel good.
hellion102792 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Gotta love the Saw series, at this point all they're trying to do is make them as gory as possible as the plot falls apart. I turned on #5 and got to watch a guy get his intestines strewn all over a room as he was slowly cut in half by a giant swinging blade after having to crush his own hands. I came.... to the conclusion that #6 is gonna suck.

Cruznolfart Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I am not entertained by violence or gore. Extreme violence will lose me. Any level of violence against women, children or animals and I'm outta there. I suspect I'm not the only one who's witnessed enough of the real deal to find any allusion to it or portrayal of it less than entertaining. I like happy beginnings AND happy endings. :-
