greg420blues
Put your feelers out for an original Boss OD-1. I swear by them. Switched from a Mesa Dual Rec (small label) to a JCM800 2203 recently, and so I've also added an EH Double Fuzz. Now I got the super dirty tone when I need it ... and when I go to solo, I hit my Boss OD-1. Bought it in '86 and there's NO WAY IN HELL I'd ever sell it. Not too expensive, if you're looking for something that'll do the job.
