Flight959
Ok so I'am taking some tabs from the doctor which make me somewhat unsteady on my feet. I went to put my LP Slash on the stand and missed it completely. The guitar fell backwards onto the floor where I caught it an inch from the (Underside) headstock hitting the floor........ Words cant describe what I felt when I JUST managed to catch the guitar... That would have been a very fatal mistake indeed! Would have been a bad break... And they say you shouldn't drink n drive... Just thought I'd share with you fellow Axe lovers!! Flight959
ksdaddy
I have a habit of dozing off on the couch clutching a gutar. No casualties yet but you can see how that could be a recipe for disaster.
RichCI
Play a Fender when you're concerned about breakage; those things can take a beating. I have no problems carrying a Strat in a gig bag but there's no way I'd tote around a Gibson in one.
daveinspain
So explain to me why the volute was such a bad Idea...
ksdaddy
It wasn't that it was a bad idea, it just didn't work as expected. Gibson shouldn't be selling gig bags with their guitars. They just don't give the support to an angled headstock.
RichCI
Functionally, the angled head stock that Gibson uses is superior to a non angled Fender headstock as it applies pressure down to the nut without having to use string trees like Fender does; string trees do help but they're prone to grabbing the strings which can make tuning or using a trem a hassle. My guess is that Fender guitars don't have an angled headstock because they could get more necks out of a piece of wood since you don't need as thick of a piece of wood for their necks - a cost saving measure. deepblue
A lot of great music was composed in this state... Very true. I had a bad case of Gout last month. I was taking Percocets. I forgot my Lester was in my lap when I tried to get out of the Lazy-Boy.....It was a close call, but there was no harm. My reflexes kicked in and I grabbed the guitar quickly. grampa
I never give my guitars anything stronger than Ibuprofen. I don't want any drug dependent guiutars.
