Sin
I know its held in place by 4 screws each and the two on the middle are for adjusting pickup hight , but what happens if I unscrew the the two for pickup hight all the way? Never had the guts to do it ,any advice would be much appreciated, I intend to substitute the rings or just remove them , I dislike platic. http://www.bestguitarparts.com/guitar-part/93/Plastic_Humbucker_Mounting_Ring.htm thanks
jameswithesg
best way to figure out is to try it yourself. when the center screws are all the way loosened the pickup comes off the plastic ring, i dont like plastic either, pretty much no plastic on my axe anymore =] it can be a little tricky to put the pickup back on the monting screws, because of the springs, but its not that hard

Sin
So I did live dangerously and man that was a pain to get back in place LOL, cant take them off for good, the pickup just wobbles in the hole, have to live with that plastic ring blergh. Plus I think you can actually tear the wires out if you get a little too inpatient have to solder the pickup wires back in place double the pain, thankfully that didnt happen.
