Anyone listen to The Residents? I was introduced to them in the mid-80's and saw them at the Warfield in SF on their 13th Anniversary Tour. I had tix to see them a few years back, but we all know what happened back then, and it was cancelled. They are coming to The Cats Cradle in Carborro, NC. I have been to that venue a few time and it is a small place. I am probably going to pull the trigger and get a pair or tix to see them. You may have seen pics of them as the are sometimes called The Eyeball Guys, dressed up in tux's with huge eyeball for a head adorned with a top hat. Here is a recent live performance of what they do. I wouldn't really call it music, and if I go I'm shrooming.

Not my cup, but good to know somebody's doing something else these days with electronic music besides disco like bounce at raves.  [wink]

But electronically, I'm a bit more attuned to------

Oh yeah The Residents are a bizarre bunch. Around the mid to late 80's they started to change and I stopped listening to them for a long while. I put on Duck Stab, Eskimo, or The Commercial Album (40 songs each on only 60 seconds long) every once in a while.

New stuff from my nephews boy on guitar. He and his brother have been doing a little maintenance work for me lately and ended up buying my Epi 339. They just did their second album but not finished yet. A bit psychedelic!

I'm not sure how much I like that song or not, but too, I got tired real quick of kids starting bands only to pound out nothing but poorly played "power" chords and "singing" like Cookie Monster.

Those boys have a good, full sound.  See?  Playing full chords does make a difference.  [wink]

Shrooms it is then! Have fun!

Yep. Last time I did it at a show it was at a Guided By Voices show before Covid. I saw Laurie Anderson in Berkeley in ‘85 or so shrooming.

Here is Hardy Fox and Snakefinger in Oz on the 13th Anniversary Tour being interviewed. That was the tour I saw in '85 at the Warfeild in SF. Hardy Fox and Snakey are both gone now. Snakey played with then when I saw them. Hardy admitted before he passed that he was indeed a Resident. Here is them doing James Brown's classic. They guy singing is Homer Flynn. He was co owner of Ralph Records/The Cryptic Corporation, the Rez's label ect. He denies in interviews he a Resident.
