Homz
Any of you need a great thinker and idea man. I may be available soon. I am very good at original ideas and have owned and sold 2 privately held businesses. I have advanced knowledge in Nuclear physics, general physics, and power production. I am well versed in industrial plant operations related to energy efficiency. I don't mind saying what needs to be said to get the job done. That is to say, I don't care if I pi$$ off the OEM's. And besides that I can play the lead in "Whole Lotta Love" on my awesome Gibson LP Standard (king of all guitars).

Mark
I can think of two dictators who would love to hire you, but seriously isn't that a great field to be in right now? Maybe a move from the midwest is in your future. Good Luck

It's a shame your union killed the Golden Goose. Best of luck to ya Homz. Construction would be good, if not for the illegals working so cheap. And, you're not so young either. Hmmmm. milod
There are times when folks of different perspectives in politics, religion and musical style just plain discover they have more in common than they might consider at other times. This era appears to be one of those times. The difficulty is that we're so far into high overhead lives - from taxes on everything to what have you - that in ways rough economic times and job (or un-job) stress may be greater today than in those ages when people had far less. I'm reminded of Will Rogers saying of the dirty 30s that it was the only time in history that people drove to the poorhouse in their cars. We're up a notch from that, but losing faith in a lifestyle is hard to accept. Problem is, stuff happens. Always has; always will. I think also those of us "here" on the forum have pretty decent self concepts that don't take being kicked around by circumstances beyond our control very well. Guitar players, especially perhaps electric guitar players, want big-time control. That's why so much "gear" gets sold to us. Then to have the rules apparently change in the middle of the game? It's sad. It'd be easy to knock the unions - and I have frequently - but it's also vital to note that "business" in today's world isn't necessarily there to make something and sell it the way "smaller" companies or individual artists/artisans do. Once the accounting games enter the equation for either the big companies and/or the unions, the simpler economic mode is lost and intrinsic values are forgotten, whether product or labor. Good luck to you - and let's face it, to a lot of us. I've a hunch it may be a rough spring and summer.

I kinda thought it was the bad business decisions of management that killed the golden goose. The union didn't have any opportunity to decide what cars to build. I know you don't seem to understand this so allow me to point out that the average wage of a United Auto Worker is about the same as the non union auto plants in KY and TN. The reason they use that $72/hour number you always here about on The Faux News Network is that number includes all the retired workers and surviving spouses. The non union plants haven't been here long enough to have these costs factored into their over all numbers. But what the hell if it makes you feel good to get a shot in on the union then by all means pile on.

NeoConMan
Look at nukes all across the nation. Several in your neck of the woods. Always some hiring there, just takes awhile to get in. If all the new nukes planned actually get the go-ahead and Obama's Democrats don't kill 'em, there will be as many as 30 new reactors in place within 25 years. Old, graying workforce, most of them don't wanna move to new plants. Could be a window.

There was this amazon Blond dancen. I thru a dollar in front of me to show my wife. Well I watched that dance from the sideline. She gave my wife the best show I'd ever seen in that place in 10 years. Well when the music was over she ran out and out to the car. Shes never asked again.
