thepatrik Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Hi! I'm thinking of buying myself a firebird, but the vintage sunburst finish confuses me. On Gibson's website (http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Firebird/Gibson-USA/Firebird-V/Finishes.aspx), the vsb is full of yellow and no red. Doesn't look at all like the old classic firebird sunburst, and web sites i've looked at (http://www.music123.com/Gibson-Firebird-V-Electric-Guitar-517338-i1149303.Music123), show the old sunburst color with lots of red and almost no yellow in it, although it's titled as vintage sunburst.
dc3c46 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Here is mt Firebird V. Got it in 2008. Just to give you an idea what the sunburst looks like in reality. Go get one , I love mine for the tone, the neck and just for the fact that you don't see them being played every day.
thepatrik Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 Yeah, it's a true beauty. Thanks for the picture!
GuitarJunkie Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 It also depends on the mahogany it's made out of. The color of the wood varies from yellow/gold to reddish/brown.
