euronymous
I was looking for an explorer, wanted one really bad. My friends brother said he had one. He got it as a birthday present in 96 and only played on it for a year or so. He brought it down from the attic and showed it to me. It has a floyd, a smaller body, and un-covered pickups (which sound incredible!). It is Korean made in a Samick factory, and has the strangest licensed floyd I have ever seen. I am rebuilding his cars engine, and hate floyds, what do you guys think this thing is worth? I love the guitar, it sounds killer, but it has a floyd- I hate them. This guy has to go. I have no clue how to add pics, but here is a link to a few: Picture #1 Picture #2 Weird Floyd

This guitar must be a custom...if you dont like the floyd dont use it. I cannot get it to stay in tune. Its driving me nuts. I looked at the blades on the bridge a little closer, and they are a little dull. If I get an original (I might learn to like them) it would leave me with a 24 1/4" scale, which is kind of short. I would rather sell it and get a fire bird or an explorer with a stop tail. God the pickups are sweet though and comfortable body.
elantric
That is a cheap Asian Floyd Rose non locking trem bridge, on a 1995 Samick Korean Epiphone Explorer with bolt on neck- was probably sold for $325 new. As is, probably worth about $250 max if the fret wear is low. If seen worse Floyds than that one - but those particular ones are a bit of a disaster to keep in tune. If it were mine Id probably block the trem with maple wedge - but never throw more than $50 to upgrade that particular instrument - but do so only if : *you really like how it plays - *You enjoy tinkering with guitars more than playing guitars. Not a bad hobby, you might discover "your unique sound" - build your knowledge base, and not commit any crime when performing radical mods/surgery. But typically i'd save up for something else. GuitarJunkie
I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for it, IF it was working perfectly.

GuitarJunkie
Made in Asia, bolt-on neck, cheap hardware, cheap electronics, unbound neck, etc. Not trying to be a ****, it's just that guitars like that are a dime a dozen. For $200 to $300 you could do a lot better, hence my "100 bucks" comment.

I was just wondering if you meant because its bolt on, asia, ect or if there is something bad about that model. Thanks for your input
Gonzowerke
Buying a guitar is like buying a house or car. you have to dig under the surface before you make your decision, and it's a personal one that might not be everyone's cup of tea. I have experience with a Korean Epi SG. It is a real sweet guitar of high quality, except for one thing. The pickups it came with. Weird 3 screw mounting, and plastic EMG lookalike covers. Underneath, cheap mags, coils, and slugs. I put a Dirty Fingers from my currently stripped down Explorer and it flat out screams now! The fit and finish are fantastic, light years ahead of my 2005 Faded V, the bridge, tailpiece, and machine heads all rock solid, and the neck joint is tight. So, Take a look at everything on this Exp. Is the bridge the only negative feature for you? Do the p'ups sound good? Does the neck buzz? Rock in it's joint? Are the machine heads sloppy or tight? With this one, you need to balance the cost versus upgrade parts cost. Is it worth it to you? The cheapest way would be to go with a stop tailpiece conversion. That will run you between 40-60 bucks, depending on where you shop and what brand you get. Then tuners and p'ups if you don't like them. As far as the wiring goes, the switch, jack, and pots are all smooth and noise free. I think the cap is different, as the tone is darker than either my Exp or V when I roll off the tone knob. That may be due to the urethane varnish as opposed to Nitrocellulose though. Your mileage may vary. Gonzo
euronymous
The pickups are actually pretty amazing, everything else is good too. Its just the bridge. I blocked it today, and will get strings tomorrow. I thought about the stop tale, that might be my best bet. When I bought it the 3 way went out in about 1/2 an hour, I just soldered another on one no big deal. As far as Korean epi's go, I have a Korean t-bird that plays as good as the gibson I had, and I can gig with it without taking a bunch of valume. thunderpig
If that's a Floyd, this thing on my Jackson is an Edelbrock.
euronymous
It says "licensed by Floyd Rose" on it. Its ugly and the blades are FLAT. The post are too far forward to put on a real floyd. I would just like to what the hell it is, besides crap. I have never seen anything like it. The rest of the guitar is great, I really like the full sized explorer body, but the pick ups make up for that. An edelbrock=d>
