daveinspain Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I recently saw a 1989 Pre Historic Les Paul 59 reissue sel for around $2100 on Ebay... I was so tempted to bid on that guitar, it was gorgeous. I just don't know anything about the Pre Historic Pauls... Can anyone shed some light?
pohatu771 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Prehistoric Les Pauls are made from petrified wood and have dinosaur bone nuts. That's a joke. Sometimes people take my jokes seriously.

pippy Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 In the days before the 'Historic Division' and, later, 'Custom Shop' re-issues Gibson had already been trying, since about 1980 to accurately re-create the '58 - '60 Les Paul. There are the 'Heritage 80' Standards etc...etc... These tend to be referred to as 'Pre-Historic' instruments for obvious reasons. There is a lot of information on these instruments on the 'Les Paul Forum' website.
