Thin_Lizzy
Hi There, Does anyone know of a way of repairing this ding? Are there such things as lacquer pens? It's on a year 2000 Les Paul Standard. Thanks for any help you can give, Mark.
rockstar232007
Your LP isn't going to look BRAND NEW forever, so just chalk it up as the first of MANY 'battlescares', and be done with it. But, if you really want to fix it? a "ding" that big would call for that whole section of the body to be sanded, re-lacquered, and then re-clear coated. I think that you should just leave it as is, cause' each and every mark/ding that ends up on your guitar, adds character to it, and makes it truly yours. arrober
Hello! I think the same as rockstar... In my opinion a guitar is more beautiful with all its battle wounds... Not going crashing it everyday, but I like it the way it is Thin_Lizzy... Repairing it will be very expensive and the result could not be the optimum. Excuse my English men hehe. Duende
Gibson and Fender Guitars look fantastic with this kind of mileage! Jackson or Ibanez' while great axes, to my eyes look great only when perfect and tainted with dings!

AXE®
Either take it to a pro if it really bothers you. Or for a home fix if tou don't have access to a nitro and stain supply. Thinning finger nail polish to match works fine, remember more coats creates a more opaque finish.
Tim Plains
The ding bothers you but not the strap wear? It wouldn't bother me, either...but it's your guitar, not mine. If it bothers you and you love the guitar, spend the $$ and have a pro repair it.
crossroadsnyc
While I would never intentionally bang around my guitar for dings, etc., I have to admit that I feel quite a sense of relief and joy when I do get my first dings. It's like the first time your kid scrapes his knee or gets a cut on his forearm ... you are finally able to move away from the "babying" mode. Anyway, I'd leave it alone. How about some larger pics of your guitar, man?

GuitarJunkie
Not too sure how to fix it, but if the dings bother you that much try using one of these.

Hall
Erlewine, says super glue, spaced one drop at a time and allowed to spread without your ever touching it (scary!). Stewart-MacDonald sells lacquer pens $10.00. Do some more research. That freaks me to even have mentioned. used spell check
Thin_Lizzy
Cheers for your comments. I'm thinking of buying it. Don't really mind the dings to much, just wondered what the consensus was, glad people generally thinks it ok. Kind of like a Les Paul Relic! My SG has a few good dings too. Cheers, Mark.
