RichCI Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 This is just entirely too cool to be buried on the eight page of a thread about modeling. This guy fabricates the ENTIRE thing including forming the glass - it ain't no Torres kit! I don't think there's any problem with gases (there has to be a vacuum for the tube to work). Obviously CO2 is produced during the heating process. Here's someone making their own valves. http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/01/07/video-making-a-vacuu.html Thank you, 80LPC! One of the most fascinating videos I've seen in a long time!
80LPC Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 And thanks to Glenn, who got me googling on how these things are made !
Riffster Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 That is very impressive. It blew my mind a little....
80LPC Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I found his website, he's called Claude Paillard. http://paillard.claude.free.fr/ There's a google translate button. His main interest is ham radio. Some great pictures here. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://paillard.claude.free.fr/&langpair=fr%257Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 Must be a great feeling to see (and hear) these creations come to life !
djroge1 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 That was awesome! Is it just me, or does that make you want to try and build one yourself? Although it takes a lot of equipment and skill that I just don't have.

I *still* need to get around to trying my hand at building an amp.
MikeRom Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 That was really cool. and tedious and long I would kill myself but this guy obviously likes what he does. Thanks for posting it -
