toggle switch problem seems to be pickup adjustment

Thanks for the responses to my problem relating to the toggle switch being in the middle position and the sound being a out of phase nasal , weaker signal..

One person that wrate about wavelenths i believe was on the right track. After a pro had set up my Vm he said he had "balanced the pickups...Of course this being my first les paul, i immediately raised the bridge pickup for maximum biting treble lead punch. very powerful rear pickup on this gibson..

But, because i did this it seems the bridge pickup was overwhelming the neck p/u, so when in the middle position i was not getting full power, soundwaves canceling each other? or just to much treble to balance the neck pickup..

I lowered the bridge two full turns and the volume/power in the middle position increased..

These pickups are so powerful, adjusting them really can tweak out some different sounds.
