I snagged it for a good price on Ebay but I'm still skeptical (even though the serial number is legit!). If it's a fake I suppose I'll just resell it (but I won't lie about it not being a real Gibby!)

It looks real to me. Check the truss rod cover for the screw count. Gibson only uses 2 screws to secure it . Most copies have 3 screws. I can't see it from the pictures here.

Thanks guys! I got this bad boy for $720 shipped. And I was this close to driving out and buying one brand new from GC tomorrow. Woo I'm excited!!!

It's a legit Explorer... but how come you asked after you bought it on Ebay and not before? :-k

Mainly because it went for half of what a new Explorer goes for and the serial number did show up legit. I was fairly confident it was real anyway, and if it wasn't, well, I would just eat the loss and resell it for slightly less than what I paid. I'm still suspicious -- to me, $720 for what appears to be a good condition, 2006 standard Gibson Explorer is the deal of the century.

I was about to bite the bullet and get a new one because I couldn't find a used for less than $1100.

PS: great login name!!
