Chambered '58 reissue

Bought this today. I haven't weighed it but it feels well under 8 lbs.

Sounded great during the short time I heard it but I won't be able to really try it out until tomorrow.

There's more flame in the pics than there is in person. The grain really stands out and it's literally a plain top when looking at it straight on.

Thanks guys.

Bluemoon, jokingly...yes. I wanted another historic with different tone. It was either one of these or a Custom.

Thunder, the Mrs. has friends over (girls night) and I can't crank it. I've been playing it fairly quietly and from what I can tell it's much brighter sounding than a solid LP. It definitely sounds like a hollowbody. Especially, playing palm muted power chords. Clean sounds great, nice & clear.

AXE, I'm a pu$$y.

blue, nope...bought it in a hotel room up in Kitchener. The previous owner is from Central Ontario and work brought him to Kitchener this weekend. $2,800.

Nice looking guitar' date=' man! So a chambered reissue, huh? Is that a reissue of the 2007 model? O:) [/quote']

I thought is was a historic reissue of the ever desirable 2004 model? :-kO:)

No Flight, mine's a genuine Givson. I'd never buy a Givsun..those are crap.

Haha, well very nice either way! How does it compare to the solid body 58? Preference toward one or the other?

Wait -- are you talking about comparing it to a real original solid body '58 or one of the reissues of the reissue of the reissue of the recent reissue of the '58?

Very nice! Congrats. Yeah, until I did my own test I didn't realize how different a chambered body can sound. To me it's neither bad or good, just different (definitely brighter).

BTW, I hear there is legislation in Canadian parliament to give me your R9 as part of the Canadian portion of our stimulus package. I'll be expecting it next week...

Lighter' date=' that's for sure...but not much lighter than my R9s.

My lighter R9 weighs 8.2 lbs. If I had to guess I'd say this CR8 weighs 7.8 - 7.9 lbs.

Preference - if I had to rank them, I'd say this CR8 sounds better than my R8 but not as nice as either R9.

I guess you really can't come to a conclusion on which is 'better' when the one chambered LP is right in the middle.

The R8 is getting new upgraded next week; so, I'm sure this order will change.

Yeah, I heard about that...it was just a proposal and didn't go get much support.

Being Canadian, I'd have to convert that to metric.

"The ladies call me 58.0644 cm" might sound like I'm stretching the truth...

Could always simplify things and say "The ladies call me Mr. Ed."
