:D what a stupid question man, everyone knows THE MAN doesn't need an amp to spread awesomeness:-"

(the first part of the comment is the dem00n part, the second part is just the truth, now apologize to the man and the forum for asking that)

Nice, Rich. I like the tone - lots of those crankin' mids that make rock guitars sound so good. Was that the Mesa Stiletto?

Thanks, guys! That's one of our originals; my brother (lead vocals, bass) wrote it and it's one of the more fun ones we play. It still needs work, but it's sounding good. I chose that particular recording as the other guitar player (he's the guy who deals with recording our rehearsals) didn't have the digital out from his Line 6 hooked up right so he's not on any of the songs except for mic bleed. I figured it'd be a good one to hear my sound.

surfpup - Yeah, that's the Stiletto and I definitely go for a more mids-heavy tone. Doesn't sound much like what you think a Mesa would sound like, eh? :) Contrary to the popular v-shaped EQ settings that most players like for heavy tones, my mids are set higher than the bass and treble and the presence is up around 12:00. It's kind of a weird amp in that the preamp totally falls apart (flabby for bass, harsh for treble) if you take any of the tone controls past around 10:00 or so - I set the mids around 10:00 and the bass and treble around 9:00. I play through the "clean" channel and jack up the signal with an Analogman King of Tone set as a clean boost. I used a treble booster on the lead.

+1 - that's the way it should be. The first thing I do when I plug into a high gain amp is cut the treble and dime the mids. No V for me!
