danneskjold
Hello All, I hope someone will be able to help me. The MCK knob fell off of my SG robot -- I am hoping that there is some quick and easy solution that will allow me to fix it myself but it does not slip back on like a normal volume or tone knob. The computer tape is still intact and the guitar plays when plugged in (of course I am unable to use any of the "robot" functions as there is no way for the knob to be pulled to the "out" position. If you don't understand what I'm talking about and need a pic I have one that I could send. And if you would advise "please go to your nearest authorized Gibson Robot Service center" please know that I am currently in Beirut, Lebanon where I am posted with the govt. I have not found a service center here... Thank you in advance for your help. L

Did you buy it online or from a retailer in Beirut?
danneskjold
I bought it when I was back in the U.S. and it has worked wonderfully, but just tonight I was playing out at a friends place and noticed the MCK knob dangling limply. Now that I've got it back home I think that I am missing a microscopic screw that goes in the side of the knob (and a microscopic screwdriver with which to screw it in). I'd like to post an image but I'm not really sure how to do so-- when I click on the "Image" button I get tml but I don't know where I can upload it.. I'm beginning to feel like a real technophobe. danneskjold
My trouble with the button is now my profile's avitar for all to see. If I am correct in my assumption about a microscopic screw loose could someone let me know where I can find the materials I need to fix this baby. Thanks again. danneskjold
Problem solved! It pays to look inside the guitar case and find the mini allen wrench that is included with the guitar. I am an idiot. Thanks everyone--
Alouf
Glad to see you resolved your issue :) On a side note, how is Beirut this time of the year? are you there for a long time?
dopeylopes
I'm new to this forum - Own multiple vintage Gibson's and just purchased 2008 LP Robot. Thanks for posting helpful information. Based upon this post I was able to quickly resolve a problem with the MCK. The knob was not disengaging when pushed in. I was so confounded - It's just 2 days from the first gig that I intend to use this guitar at...Like danneskjold above - the solution to my problem was already right in the case. After reading your post I located the microscopic allen wrench and removed the MCK top hat. I was able to observe that the post was able to easily be pushed back in and surmised that the MCK had slipped slightly down on the post making it physically impossible to push the knob back to the disengaged position. I re-set the knob slightly higher on the post and tightened the microscopic screw. I'm back on track - appreciate the information you posted! Rock on Gibson users...
