Alouf Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 After I did the did the half turn screw and tap manoeuvre on the G string tom bridge and saddle, I am exactly where I started..The G string have a real hard time to tune and it takes 4 to 5 strokes to tune it...and even then, it is not in tune. When I turned the saddles screw and back again, I did notice that the screw was VERY hard to turn, could that be the cause of the issue?
CharlieP Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 How old are your strings. Maybe a fresh set would change the situation. I have problems when I keep them on too long. Gets so it won't tune everytime on all the strings, maybe one or two not coming in. When I put on a fresh set it is OK again. Some sometimes intonation is off too. Old ones stretch.
Alouf Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 Just installed them a few hours ago... The G string have always been problematic for me no matter the age of the strings.
Alouf Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 Maybe the nut slot width is tight. I will be trying so GraphitALL

How far are your pickups from your strings? Too close or too far might be a possibility to investigate. I had a similar problem with the G string out of the box. I changed from Gibson strings to a different manufacturer's set of 10s and the problem is gone.
max2343 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I don't get it. What's the Deal. Intonation off? Set it. String hang-in up on the nut? Should of run the old "G"string like a sea saw thru it. Don't get crazy if you loose your pinch at the nut. You will have a dead "G" string String ride-in high on the nut? Set it lower with some more forward bow on the neck. Don't know how to do these things, pay someone to do it for you. Problem solved.
CharlieP Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Easy max2343! Alouf is just trying to figure out why the tuner is not reacting the way it should. He could pay someone to work on it and still find the problem is still there. With electronic sensors all is not so easy to fix. The tuners should function properly. Intonation was taken to the extreme adjustment and had no where else to go with adjustment screw. This sometimes varies set to set. I have had the top E string do this before. There is not much else to do but use the string or change it in hope that the intonation will come in on the next string.
