Is the GOR lying to us...to please us?

OK,

So you guys heard about the problem with the G string tuning and staying in tune.

What surprises me though is that even though I and the GOR knows that the G string is not in tune, after about 5 or 6 strikes, the Robot will just flash blue as if the string is in tune, without even moving the motor!

So my guess is that Tronical is cheating when they see that the guitarist is being impatient and the string is not coming in tune so instead of continuing to flash red, they accept the current tuning and tell you that it is in tune. Also, when I verify that Gstring using a Peterson tuner after the GOR has marked it blue, of course, the tuner indicates that it is not in tune.

I wish they didn't do that so I could know for real if that darned G string is in tune or not.

Hi Alouf

I am so sorry to hear this. Have you contacted your local dealer?

My GOR tunes absolutely spot on, but yes the G sometimes takes maybe a couple of seconds longer if I am going from say E flat to E standard.

My tuner does not flash blue unless tuned. When it is having a problem with old strings it just stays red on the string it can't tune and green on the ones it can. The G string is a harder string to tune even manually I find on most guitars.

Weird...Charlie, so yours stay red forever if it doesn't tune?

Mine after 5 or 6 plucks, even though the motor doesn't spin, it just marks it as OK.

Alouf,

There are multiple possible reasons for your problem.

- nut slot too high and too much friction (tight slot)

- lock nut on the string post is not set tight enough

- you strum too hard, the result would be a sharp "tuned" G string

- Pitch detection failure due to sticky string bar in the saddle

- accuracy setting too low

- efunction correction enabled

What do you observe when you strum the G string exactly?

Here is what should happen:

- You strum, the respective string LED should start flashing red = pitch detection active

- After 1 sec the LED should start flashing Yellow (information sent to Neck CPU) = powerhead moves

- Green string LED = string in tune

- all LEDs flashing blue = guitar in tune

Try this:

Remove the G string and make sure the string bar is not inclined in the saddle and that you can move it up and down a little bit, it must not be sticky in its saddle at all.

Now restring and hit the string bar. Ensure that the string bar is not inclined and that the lock nut on the tuner post is set tight.

Reset the tuning system (factory default), afterwards disable efunction correction (manual).

If you are still having problems at this point, try to change accuracy settings to higher level.

Last option: Tune the G string (...or all strings..) to your liking and save as Custom Altered Tuning preset.

Let me know the results.

You play. We tune.

I've never had a problem with the tuning on any of my strings, I check my Robots tuning against two tuners usually about once a month and it is always spot on. I have really worked hard to make sure I found the right "strumm" for tuning that my guitar (tuning system) "likes" and make sure I use the same force every time. It takes a little patience and practice (just like learning a song) but in the end its worth it. Some people will say its a fault with the system that you have to strumm a particular way but I think that is BS, even if you tune a guitar manually the strength of your strumm will affect the pitch of the string you are tuning, most tuners just arent sensitive enough to pick up the difference and show you how far off you can be when you strike the string too hard or soft (my opinion). I think the Robot tuning system is alot more sensitive than most tuners and thats why some people have problems. Im not ruling out that there may be a few guitars out there with actual problems, I just know for sure its not all of them. another factor may be that some people prefer wound G strings and some prefer unwould G strings ( I like all G strings =P~ !) It might be wise to reset the tuning system and turn up the accuracy when switching between the two.
