I've never understood Ibanez. I have yet to hear an Ibanez that didn't sound tinny.

I've played a few and find they vary a lot. I cant think of a guitar brand that makes more models than Ibanez. Everything from metal to jazz boxes. They have no manufacturing facilities at all. Not since the early 60s. All of them are made by OEMs in many countries.

Steve Via and Paul Gilbert seem to like Ibanez guitars. I got no use for a guitar that doesn't have at least one big hole in the top.

Ibanez make excellent guitars but for you I’d probably go with a Dean ML Acoustic

LSD did that guy no favors. Such a talent and he pissed it away. I tried listening to his solo album with the tiger on the cover. Its just an incoherent mess.

I will take a hard pass on that. My guitars are built in the holy land.

Deep in the heart of Nazareth.

I’ve been liking the acoustic work on Peso Pluma’s music lately for a change. Lots of really nice techniques that you don’t really get in American music

"The End of the Game" on Reprise.  I'm on my 2nd vinyl copy and have the CD.

And you are quite right; it IS an incoherent mess......except for the 1st track "Bottoms Up" which is a superb jam with some of his best ever lead playing on record:

The track fades in as the players are beginning to mesh.  Green is playing his LP with a wah and a Marshall half-stack with reverb,  By 1m 30 into the track he is taking command and begins to completely dominate the music with his playing.  The phrasing is totally fluent and near-impossible to copy (I've tried it) because of his unorthodox left-hand technique.   The energy level falls off then rises; Green starts to pile it on and for about 4 minutes he is absolutely flying, and the 'Greeny' LP never sounded better IMO.  The track fades after about 8.30 as they are winding down again.

2 of the musicians ended up in USA bands - Nick Buck in Hot Tuna, and Alex Dmochowski became 'Erroneous' in Zappa's band as you know.  The engineer was Martin Birch who later became a top producer of heavy metal albums - Iron Maiden referred to him as "the Headmaster".  The studio was De Lane Lea which had a particular sound to the room, clearly audible on many other British rock LPs of the time.    Discogs lists all the classic albums recorded there. Look at this lot  -

I've posted and discussed this cut once before when Jimi Mac was around some years ago.  He didn't agree with me either!

I have no doubt AT ALL that Kirk Hammett knows this track well and probably plays along with it.

And I saw Peter Green playing  the 'Greeny' LP close-up,  jamming a duo with Snowy White in a small club which he did to help the club out.  This was not long after he'd left the Mac.    He wasn't mad then.

As I understand it, Peter's drug problems started after his drink was "spiked" at a party in Germany which exasperated Peters's already fragile mental health.  The list of wasted talent from that period is mind boggling, people like Paul Kossoff, are such a sad waste.

He had a fragile mind. Highly creative but vulnerable. He couldn't handle drugs.

They were Gibson’s competition in back in the day. Gibson bought them in ‘59 and farmed them out to Asia.

Close - the Epiphone purchase actually occurred in 1957. But yes, Epiphone and Gibson were major competitors during the 1930s –1950s.

Also, all Epiphones were made in Kalamazoo (at the Gibson factory) from 1957 - 1970. After that, production moved offshore to Asia. However, there were multiple models over the years that have been made in the USA, up to and including current USA versions of the Frontier, Texan, and Casino.
