gibson61
is using a capo bad for the finish on your neck? I was wondering if it was similar to using a guitar stand too much and the rubber might mess up the finish. I get tired of tuning half steps when i could just use a capo instead, but im too scared to. Any help would be great

deepblue
I use the G7 capo. best I have ever used. I wouldnt worry about the finish, I worry about the fretwire. Thats why I never leave a capo on any longer then I have to.
Witmer
Maybe I'm just an idiot, but every time I put the capo on my LP, I have to re-tune. It works fine on an acoustic. Wish I knew why. But no, it doesn't seem to harm the finish at all.
craigr726
I think the major difference is that you leave a guitar on a guitar stand, say, 20 hours a day (if you're playing a lot), whereas a capo is touching any one particular spot on the back of the neck for perhaps 45 minutes or so if you take it off every time you're done playing (like you should). jertum
Yeah definitely check that the little rubber pads are there before each use. I've got a couple of small dents to the back of the neck of mine due to a capo that lost its rubber. I'm really p*ssed off because the guitar's brand new too! Oh well, the first of many battle scars i suppose.
