Basshole Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Has to be electric. I have a bass that weight 12 pounds, its a back breaker for certain. How about you guys?
Tenthmed Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 1995 LP Studio 10 lb 1 oz. 2008 LP Standard 7 lb 10 oz.
matiac Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 The one on the top is lighter by a considerable amount than the bottom one. The Strats even lighter than my ratty, no name acoustic, and my mandolin doesn't apply here. Update: weighed myself with guitars on a digital scale Les Paul: 10 pounds on the nose Stratocaster: 7.2 pounds I stand corrected on the acoustic thing, the Strats heavier.
RichCI Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Les Paul is definitely over 10 lbs. Reverend Slingshot feels like it weighs around 6 lbs.
heymisterk Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I've never owned a heavy guitar. My SG Classic is only about six pounds.
djroge1 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I've never weighed my Les Paul, but at times it feels like every bit of 15lbs (probably not that heavy though)
rocketman Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Haven't weighed them but the Sonex is definitely heavier than both the weight relieved and chambered LP Standards. The Strat is the lightest electric. For the acoustic side I've played a lot of them and Taylors seem very light compared to a lot of them...
charlie brown Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Heaviest? My 1980 Gibson LP Custom. (Center) Lightest? My MIJ (Epiphone) '61 SG Standard and/or my Vintage 1966 Epiphone Casino CB
DamienAzrael Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 My heaviest guitar is my B.C. Rich Acrylic Mockingbird, and my lightest is my Ibanez Prestige 7 String....But most guitars are light for me.
callen3615 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 My heaviest guitar is my B.C. Rich Acrylic Mockingbird' date=' and my lightest is my Ibanez Prestige 7 String....But most guitars are light for me.[/quote'] I light 7 string...hmm. Im sure it doesn't sound light. m/ m/
DamienAzrael Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I light 7 string...hmm. Im sure it doesn't sound light. m/ m/ Well...it's Basswood....hence it's not a heavy as the rest of my guitars that are mostly made up of mahogany....but it does sound huge.
callen3615 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Well...it's Basswood....hence it's not a heavy as the rest of my guitars that are mostly made up of mahogany....but it does sound huge. Ive got two Ibanezs, they are both basswood and light.
DamienAzrael Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Ive got two Ibanezs' date=' they are both basswood and light. [/quote'] Yeah...I'm not a big fan of basswood guitars, but my 7 strings sound pretty good so I can't really complain....I like my guitars to have some weight to them though.
callen3615 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I dont mind them. They serve a purpose, just like my gibsons.
callen3615 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 My heaviest Im itchin for a custom. Played on in gc today, and it was heavy. I dont really mind them that bad.
Cruznolfart Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 My Epi Sheraton II John Lee Hooker commemorative is, without a doubt, the heaviest guitar I own. It's not your regular Sheraton II, having been built almost entirely of mahogany, with the exception of the maple top and a couple maple stripes in the neck. It weighs about 42 pounds but it sounds better than any Gibson I ever heard. :- And my lightest guitar is my Benavente Custom at a feather-light 7 pounds soaking wet. Yes, it's chambered but it sounds better than any Gibson Les Paul I ever heard , even without a pickguard.
FirstMeasure Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Heaviest..................................................................Lightest The Nighthawk has Mahogony Neck and Body and a very thin Maple Top (a veneer really). The Buddy Guy Strat has an Alder Body and One Peice Maple Neck.
