Yeah man, it's a cool/fun little guitar. It has the rounded 50s neck (which I think is the best), nice flamed maple top, an offbeat/versatile pickup configuration w/push-pull tone... it's got it goin on! Plus it's often overlooked and underpriced. I love mine. Wzup, you have one or are you thinking of scooping one up or what?

I almost bought one of those American Series Nighthawks a long time ago. It was used for like $500. I wish I would have bought. I'd get today one as a toy. Mainly cuz no one really uses them. At least not on stage.

I have '95 Nighthawk and Use it as my Main Axe, along with a Strat.. I haven't tried one of these Nighthawks, but I can tell you the old ones are the Bee's Knees.

The slanted Bridge PU is hotter than your average Les Paul PU. The Mini Bucker in the neck position is very cool.

Near as I can figure the 5 way blade selector switch rolls like

1=Split Bridge

2=Bridge

3=Split Bridge/Neck (Not Sure about this one)

4=Bridge/Neck (Not Sure about this one Either)

5=Bridge

The 25.5 inch Scale length is very Comfortable if you're used to a Strat Neck.

Mine doesn't have the Single Coil PU in the middle, so there's no Push Pull Pot.

Just got my hands on a '97 Epi nighthawk amber and I'm blown away not only by the tone but the playing comfort. The neck is incredible. I'm hoping the Gibson version has the same size neck if thats the case I'll buy one in a heartbeat.

Also on the list is a Nighthawk Landmark... if I can find one I might consider mangling the bridge position minihumbucker for a regular size pickup so I can do away with my Les Pauls [drool]
