bigtim
Was just curious if any of you keep your reissue all stock or by chance do you swap out parts. I recently purchased a new 57 reissue gold top. I like everything about it but it seems as though the tuners on the Treble Side seem to have some slack in the gearing. So with this being said....is this something that is kind if normal and will break in over time? Or have any of you had a similar experience and if so which way did you go on replacing them? Drop in fit without any modification is my goal. Edited September 17 by bigtim
Farnsbarns
Never had a problem with the Klusons (are they actually Klusons?) on my R8. I did end up swapping pickups though, so I'm not an originality freak just that the tuners seem fine to me.
Dub-T-123
Tuners are fine on mine but not quite as good as rotomatics. I probably won’t change since it’d involve reaming the holes to fit the threaded bushings of the grovers
kidblast
Check if are those variable ratio tim? where the base like 18:1 and the treble 20:1? Not sure if Gibby is doing that but my Kingpin comes stock with this. The idea is the treble tuners have a finer tunning capability than the bass side

I will check into it. Yes on the bass side they feel normal. Then it seems as though there is some slack before the gears feel like they mesh. Now I have only had this a week and a half and I purchased it brand new. I was told I was one of the first guys to pick it up off of the rack as well. It does stay in tune very well and I have been playing the heck out of it.

I might not have noticed this because I only ever tune up from below pitch.

I think that's how it should be anyway. I guess the only option is to swap them out with direct replacements and see what happens
Dub-T-123
Yeah I only tune up to avoid backlash with any tuners
