SGFAN
I just got my confirmation that my 03' LP Classic has been shipped. Here is what I know about it. 60's profile neck. WCR PUPs (I don't know which model... yet). It's got a ding or two, but that's fine I wanted a working guitar not a show piece. It will be here on Monday via "The Little Brown Truck." Here are some pics from the seller. BTW - he moved the strap button back to it's proper place. I'll shoot some good pics next week. I dislike the waiting part! esch
classic is a standard with binding around the head stock?
daveinspain
classic is a standard with binding around the head stock? No, a Classic has binding around the body and up the neck but not on the headstock. A Classic comes with high output ceramic pick ups. They also have a yellow greenish color on the trapezoid inlays on the neck tuner tips...
GuitarJunkie
The recently discontinued Classic Antique had a bound headstock, among other differences.
SGFAN
Nice plain top... Congrats!!! Do you mind telling what it set you back? I traded it for an 07' PRS Mira that I just could not bond with. This was my fourth PRS and although they are amazing guitars, they just don't do it for me. Once an LP man, always an LP man. I'm right back where I started 29 years ago. noshuzbluz
I had one for a short while. Those pickups are HOT! Great for the ZZ Top thang......
NeoConMan
Yeah, great guitars. If the ceramics don't do it for you, I recommend 57 Classics - maybe a Classic Plus in the bridge. I sometimes think I neutered my Classic when I put BurstBucker Pros in it, the bridge pickup could use a little more juice...

I have never had or used them, so I'll see how they sound and go from there. I like a hot pup... we shall see.
FallenRoses
That looks alot like my guitar! Same finish and everything! Your going to love it, simply amazing guitar. Do you plan to get a pickup selector ring? Or leave it naked? Your gonna enjoy it. Great for GN'R if you roll the tone and volume back to 7. You can get a wicked sweet blues sound. Heck you get just about everything! HIGHFIVE!

SGFAN
The prior owner moved the strap button to it's rightful place. I ordered a PUP Selector Ring yesterday. Does anyone know if the Classics in 03' are chambered or weight relieved? Either way, I'm excited about the arrival. I checked the UPS Tracking and it's showing a Tues arrival. NeoConMan
Chambered. Pretty much the entire Les Paul line since 1983 - excluding the reissues and some other $$$$ pieces.
SGFAN
Chambered.Pretty much the entire Les Paul line since 1983 - excluding the reissues and some other $$$$ pieces. Thanks for the information. It's not an issue with me. I actually like the lighter LP's... especially after a 2-3 hour rehearsal.
GuitarGuy503
Chambered.Pretty much the entire Les Paul line since 1983 - excluding the reissues and some other $$$$ pieces. You are incorrect. His LP is a 2003 model and chambering didn't start until October of 2006. With that being said it is weight relieved.

NeoConMan
DOH! Sorry for the misinformation! GG503 nailed it! Yeah, what I should have said was weight relieved! (Had my head in my *** on that one!) They started weight-relieving in the early eighties by drilling the Swiss Cheese holes in the upper body. Chambering came much later in the Supreme (with Maple backs) and finally was a regular production thing just a couple years ago. Believe me! :-) Slipped up there, big time - considering I own a Classic.... Big difference between the two! My apologies.
