Hype
Say you have a serial number: 20023001 This would represent the manufacture date of Jan 2, 2023 batch 001. What does manufacture date mean? The date the guitar completed the building process? The date in which the headstock was stamped? The date in which the guitar first took form? Can someone elaborate? Thanks

Guest
Yes, that's exactly what that would be, except guitar #1. It's the date the serial was stamped which is before the guitar is finished.
Sgt. Pepper
People get wrapped around the axel and think your guitar serial number is some mysterious number that unlocks a key to a fabulous prize. Its just a number that identifies your guitar. Yes the date is on there, but it still is not the day the guitar is put in the case and shipped. Because I'm sure its stamped, and then painted, and nitro'ed. I'll bet your toaster has a serial number too. The next guitar in line was given this : 20023002. I wonder how long you have to apprentice, and watch before you can operate the date stamper on your own? Edited October 30, 2023 by Sgt.
