Steven Tari Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 These were shows before you had to know how to spell your name. Where you got to learn about numbers by watching Mr. Moose Drop pingpong balls on the Captin.
Howlin4Hubert Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I was always mad / disappointed that my name was never said on Romper Room
FirstMeasure Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Dusty's Treehouse, the one with that Spider that wore tennis shoes.
Californiaman Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hobo Kelly and her magic mirror. "I can see Homz, and First Measure, there's howlin4hubert, and KSG-Standard. Over there is Gilliangirl, Pumpkin and Wiked1. They're so sweet. Oh and I see some of our friends from far far away. There's Roger and Flight, Daveinspain, Mr. Robot and ThunderGod. There's Neoconman and First Measure, oh and Slogold and Calen3615 And I want to say a special hello to Californiaman who has been an especially good boy today.
wicked1 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I was always mad / disappointed that my name was never said on Romper Room Mine was. :-D And it was a proud day when she looked through her looking glass and saw "Wicked." I watched Capt Kangaroo every morning, but I think my absolute favorite was The Electric Company.
Rocky4 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Remember Make a Wish with Tom Chapin? Fantastic show!
saturn Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Man , it's close between Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo. I had to go with Miss Sally though. "Romper domper stomper doo." I even had a set of those things you put on your feet, Romper Stompers!
wicked1 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 what? No tom and Jerry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1othIwwRPc
Homz Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I went with Jim and Tammy. When ever they asked for money that was the time to take a drink of your beer and hurl empties at the pitch back baseball net positioned directly in front of the TV. The things we learn in college. I probably should have worked more on spelling and grammar. Oh and punctuation, sentence structure, and what the hell is a dangling modifier, anyway?

I remember the day Tammy set the kitchen on fire just to show how to put out a kitchen fire.

Thank you Californiaman. That was just what I needed, a good laugh
Cruznolfart Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I picked "other" (I know) because right after we got our first television in 1954 we moved to Panama, where there was NO TV. :D
cvansickle Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 One of the fondest memories I have of childhood is Captain Kangaroo. Bozo's Circus and The Mickey Mouse Club rank right up there too.
Howlin4Hubert Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Mine was. :-D And it was a proud day when she looked through her looking glass and saw "Wicked." I'm so jealous! I watched Capt Kangaroo every morning' date=' but I think my absolute favorite was The Electric Company.[/quote']Same here. I loved the opening sequence and every once in awhile I like to yell "Hey You Guys" just to see who gets it ;) I also loved Spiderman on The Electric Company. I so wanted to be Spiderman :)
tuckomf Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I still watch Mister Rogers once in a while, for old times sake. Does anyone else remember Old Goat? He only showed up once in a while in Make-Believe, but every time he did, I set landspeed records running for mom's lap.

wicked1 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Great now I'm going to be singing the Spiderman song for the next 3 days ;) Got it stuck in my head too, but at least it has replaced whatever was there earlier.
rocketman Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Captain Kangaroo for me too. Remember the old rumor that his sidekick, Mr. Green Jeans, was the father of Frank Zappa? Not true of course but I always wondered how that got started...

Not true of course but I always wondered how that got started...[/quote'] Mr. Green Jeans....ahhh. And remember the segment with Bill Cosby and that easel he was always drawing on? Now which show was it that Simon was on? (I apologize in advance if this gets stuck in your head too...) Well ya know my name is Simon and I like to do drawings... Mike Meyers used to do a decent parody of it on Saturday Night Live.
Howlin4Hubert Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Mr. Green Jeans....ahhh. And remember the segment with Bill Cosby and that easel he was always drawing on? Man that brings back the memories :) Now which show was it that Simon was on? (I apologize in advance if this gets stuck in your head too...) I loved Simon! from the UK was originally in the US on Captain Kangaroo, later on Pinwheel, and after that, on Romper Room.
