Homz Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Fernandes infinite sustain? I got their 2009 catalog and read about the feed back look in the guitar that keeps the string moving forever. Has anyone used it and is it worth a shinny nickel? you can also buy the system for any guitar.
FennRx Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 beats me. the guy in journey uses one on his Lesters. and he sounded fantastic last summer at Riverbend (Cincinnati). *shrugs*
Thundergod Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I used one for a short period of time... it's called a sustainer system... I got it on a fernandes quitar and yes you can buy it from them and install it to your guitar... the downside is you have to forget about the neck pickup (or so I remember). The circuit makes the strings o on and on, without turning to feedback at all, prety useful, for a couple of weeks, then it becomes boring and old, specially for one that uses the neck pickup a lot. It comes with a switch that lets you blend in the sustainer sound and the bridge pickup sound... so when you don't need it you can just turn it off, you also get a switch to use it for feedback sounds, sustained sounds, or both. If you happen to have any fernandes dealers around I suggest you go and play a ravelle elite or something of the like first, they have the system and are cool guitars.
DamienAzrael Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I've got an old Fernandes Dragonfly with a Sustainer in it...They're pretty cool....I like being able to get different kinds of feedback no matter where you are onstage.
RichCI Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Never used one but the guitar player from Type O Negative is really into the Sustainer. Here's a live clip that shows it off really well:
