Murph
My Marshall has EL84s and they scream' date=' but in general I like 34s...[/quote'] My old JCM900 (the 4100) was an early version with EL34's. I got great tones out of the clean side. They later changed them to 6L6's. The dirty channel would get fizzy, but a lot of that was diodes. Best to ya. Murph. djroge1
After years of playing a solid state amp I'm just rediscovering the joy of tubes and right now my amp has one 6L6 and I like it (using a speaker that is broken in that is) The amp has the option of switching it out with a 6V6 (self bias - cathode bias), but I've not tried it yet.
