EdgarHF Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I am always looking for hidden treasures. I bought 4 predominately acoustic albums Thursday night. The Last being 'Tommy Johnson 1928-1929'. What is the last predominately acoustic album you've bought?
Yggdrasil Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Jorma Kaukonen: River of Time (predictably great)
TWilson Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Jackson Brown - Acoustic Vol. 2 He does a bit too much chatting inbetween songs IMHO. Before that it was UNDONE, a double CD that is a tribute to Robert Earl Keen by various artists. It's a keeper!
HellboundGreaser Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Get Dwight Yoakams acoustic record. It's called Dwightyoakamacoustic.net Friggin Awesome! And He's playing a Gibby on it.
Gilliangirl Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Get Dwight Yoakams acoustic record. It's called Dwightyoakamacoustic.net Friggin Awesome! And He's playing a Gibby on it. I bought that one last year and it remains one of my favourites. Isn't it amazing? Just Dwight and an acoustic guitar. I think there's a bit of electric stuff on Little Sister, but the whole thing is acoustic. Amazingly good. My friend Craig just bought me Woody Guthrie, The Ultimate Collection, which has been in the player for over two weeks now. The last one I bought that purely acoustic..... can't remember. The last one I bought was Mescalito by Ryan Bingham.
Acousticat Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 HellboundGreaser, Thanks, for the Dwight Yoakams Dwightyoakamacoustic.net link. Just downloaded it from Amazonmp3. This will be getting some heavy rotation on my playlist. Gilliangirl, also thank you for your input about this CD. If i learn one of his songs per week ,I'm set for the next 6 months. Now if they only had an songbook for his acoustic songs?
vagabond Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago It's really slow, reflective acoustic music. The guy got dumped by his girlfriend of some years so he locked himself up in a log cabin for a winter and wrote this album. Not technically impressive guitarwork, but it's definitely an album worth listening to.

I do have to admit I do have have a prejudice against main stream country music. I am going to give this one a shot and try to do so with an open mind. I would like to put out the fact that I am not experiencing alot of pain today but my body wants to do nothing but sleep. All day it has been net surf 10 minutes then fall asleep for 2 hours.:-

Please, don't forget to wear a rhinestone sport coat. Preferably one with a desert floral theme. Farm implement apparel is optional but, not required.
