Mr. Robot
I am busily trying to decide between a Traditional and a Standard - and every 2008 Standard I see is minus the pickguard. Does anyone know why Gibson has done this? And, does the guitar still come with the pickguard. If so does it require any drilling to fit it? Thanks guys. AXE®
As far as I know it comes with the guard, you have the option to install. Conventional installation requires drilling.
ant7629
Mine came with the pickguard in the case. HOWEVER, make sure yours is the right fit before drilling any holes. I had to get a replacement as it wasn't cut correctly.
rocketman
As far as I know it comes with the guard' date=' you have the option to install.Conventional installation requires drilling.[/quote'] AXE® is right. They all come with the guard in the case. Mine is still in the case never to be put on..
LPguitarman
I hastily put mine on, but now I wish I hadn't. Covers the finish too much. Maybe someday I'll get an aftermarket clear one.
Corrosion of conformity
I'm pretty sure they all come with the pickguard. I heard somewhere that gibson sends out all of their new Les Paul models without the pickguard so you can choose to either put it on or keep it off.
