Slogold Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 From dirty ch switching to clean ch w/ reverb setting of 3 or higher on clean there is this spring sounding noise that you can hear. Is my reverb tube going bad, if so what is the best tube replacement I think I have a ax7 right now is at7 better for reverb? The thing is when switching from clean to dirty channel I'm not hearing this noise. Any idea?
RichCI Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 That's just the deal with some channel switching amps; you get a noise when you switch channels and my guess is that your amp is working fine. Since you use overdrive, I'm assuming you play rock and roll of some variety so I wouldn't worry about the noise as it gets covered up by the drums.
MikeRom Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Spring reverb? Never heard of a bad tube causing a spring to vibrate if so. Does it sound springy?
Corrosion of conformity Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Yeah, noise is common and very normal when you switch channels on your amp, but if you're still convinced something is wrong you could take it in to a music store to have it looked at.
Slogold Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 How about backing off the reverb is it still there or does it make the noise no matter how much reverb? Turning off the reverb completely eliminates the problem when switching.
matiac Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Turning off the reverb completely eliminates the problem when switching. Well there's yer trouble. I had a Yamaha amp did the same thing, kinda like someone playing a saw in a big pipe.
