Homz Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Help settle an argument on military doctors. What rank is a military doctor when he/she begins there military career. I believe they start as a Lt. (Navy O-2)(Army that would be Captain). She claims they rank higher. A Captain (Navy O-5)(Army that would be a Colonel) is her belief.

While I cannot answer your question I thought I'd provide some rank corrections. Army/Air Force: O-2 would be a Lieutenant O-3 are Captains Army/Air Force: O-5 would be Lt. Col O-6 = Full bird Colonel.
Homz Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 Hmm, my military day are way behind me. Thanks.
Cruznolfart Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Hmm' date=' my military day are way behind me. Thanks. [/quote'] Mine too. But I recall most entering MD's as having the pay-grade of 03 unless they had previous service or some serious high-falutin' schooling in a critical specialty field. Thorasic and cardio-vascular come quickly to mind.
Bowdiddley Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I got out in '94. Then a MD with no specialties came in as an O-2. But as stated above there are instances where they are given a higher rank.
wicked1 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I think it depends on whether you do a military residency or not. As least, that's what I remember the recruiters telling us. (I was really just there for the free lunch. It's tempting to get your school paid for, but not tempting enough to put the rest of your life on the line. Also, I sat through several versions of Army, Navy, & Air Force recruiting so they all run together).

bol316 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Hmm' date=' my military day are way behind me. Thanks. [/quote'] Wait, I thought all liberals hated the military. :- Ask Sean Hannity. Whats up with that Homz?
