JkGriffin Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Afternoon, I am considering doing som customizing of my Les Paul Standard. What I am considering is the following: -Mount a black pickguard, all black as on the Studio. -Replace the knobs with black knobs with metal signs -Replace pickup mounting rings with black ones Replace pickup swith knob and sign with black -Replace truss-rod cover with a dark chrome with custom text on (Jk Signature or something) -Replace tuning pegs with black ones... or black pearl. Here are the guitar What I want with this topic is: -What do you think... worth it? -Do anyone know of good or better tuning pegs that will fit my description and my Les Paul? -Do anyone know if someone sell custom truss-rod covers as described that will fit? Bear in mind that the only holes I will allow for this, is the ones to fit the pickguard. I want the tuning pegs to enter the holes from the stock ones, same with the truss rod cover. I also want the trussrod cover the exact shape as original. The rest I can find as original Gibson Les Paul parts...
DamienAzrael Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 If it's something you wanna do then it's worth it...I customized my Les Paul Custom and Classic with all black hardware and it came out cool.

But damn, that black makeover sounds cool. It's your guitar. Own it. Make it yours. The changes your describing can always be altered or returned to the original setup (except for the pickguard screw holes [i sometimes remove a pickguard and put in screws with heads painted to match the finish which makes for a stealth cover up']).

Thundergod Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 -Mount a black pickguard' date=' all black as on the Studio.[/quote'] -Replace the knobs with black knobs with metal signs -Replace pickup mounting rings with black ones -Replace pickup swith knob and sign with black -Replace truss-rod cover with a dark chrome with custom text on (Jk Signature or something) -Replace tuning pegs with black ones... or black pearl. -What do you think... worth it? :- -Do anyone know of good or better tuning pegs that will fit my description and my Les Paul? Look around in allparts and stewmac they used to have avalon and ebony so they most surely have black -Do anyone know if someone sell custom truss-rod covers as described that will fit? Homz does (know) he installed one on his standard, and it looks great (a little bit pricey though...)
yoda Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I would not do it, but it is your guitar if it appeals to you then do it. I like LP flames the way they are, but everyone has their our idea of cool.
