I had to go to an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist for a post-C0VID sinus infection.

It took a month to get in, he does the camera into the sinus cavity, shows me what's going on, he seems really good, he prescribes a treatment regimen and says come back in 2 months.

I go into the patient portal, read his case notes and he embellished a bit about things that he didn't actually say or do and then he doesn't write the prescriptions!

WTH?

I'm going to a Retina Specialist for a problem with my left eye. The Patient Portal notes make it sound like the next time I see her, I won't be seeing her.

If she's good looking it will give you an excuse to feel her up a bit.

I have been blessed with good doctors and specialists in this area, for the past 21 years.

But I did recently have an experience with a local foot doctor that had me fuming.
I went to him because of some numbness in my feet. (Specifically, the middle toe on both feet are numb.)

The guy was worthless.
He argued with me about my condition, and he offered no concrete advice about how to remedy my situation.

I had to coerce him into ordering a test (a nerve conduction study), and he later on refused to order an L-spine MRI.
Said it wasn't in his lane, and that I would have to go see my general practitioner to get a referral to the spine & neuro center.

And I kid you not, he was masked up to mid-eyeballs every time I saw him. Even sitting alone in his office. And wore neoprene gloves at all times.
(Most doctors come to the exam room without gloves, and if they need to treat you, they wash their hands and then pull a fresh pair of gloves from the dispenser on the wall and put them on.)

As Donald Fagan once sang, "I'm never going back...."

PS: I refused to pay to go to my family practitioner just for the referral. Visited the spine & neuro center, directly I left the foot doctor, and they hooked me up with an appointment right away.
Good people.
The foot doc, not so much.

🤨

To rationalize your experience it would help to think of the average patient your doctor sees. They are old, fat, stupid, and tend to think they know better than the doctor. The doctor shouldn’t treat every old fat guy the same but after seeing a million old stupid fat guys he stops explaining so many nuances which are lost on the patient 99% of the time anyways

I guess I managed to shake them up as the ENT office called back.

My antibiotic sinus rinse is being prepared at an unspecified pharmacy at an unknown location and will be ready in a couple of days.

I hope I don't have to go down a dark alleyway and meet a guy next to the dumpster and tell him that Ahmad the nose guy from York sent me.

...and coming up next on the Boomer Lounge, the team discuss the inadequacy of relief afforded by the Gibson belly cut, and continue the in-depth investigation of plastic shower seats "sensible safety devices, or potential testicle traps?"

I want a second opinion.

Okay, you're ugly, too.

lol

I’m sure you guys are already aware but just to be clear I’m not name calling anyone here especially not the homie Steve.

Our healthcare system is so screwed up in America. Basically every possible aspect of it is broken, you could pretty much go on all day about all the problems.

I don’t really know that I want socialized healthcare at all. Our government has already shown that they suck at healthcare, why make it even more complicated and expensive. I mean if you’re broke and you wanna go pump out your 5th baby I’m already paying for it anyways..

I went to the IRS yesterday. I had an appointment and had to wait for some lady in front of me who was berating the IRS dude because she didn’t pay the taxes she owed from 6 years ago and can’t believe that she has to pay with interest etc. In the midst of her tirade I hear that she’s on disability and she makes more a week than I do. I really had to bite my tongue because for one thing she was obviously not disabled in any way.

anyways get off my freakin lawn

When I was first married, my mother-in-law would have me go downtown to a drug store.... go to the prescription counter....ask for "Johnny".

Johnny would give me a plain brown paper bag with "something" in it.....I didn't know what it was (still don't), no money exchanged hands....but my M-I-L said just get it and leave immediately.
