sunburstfaded Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I've seen Custom Shop SGs made from Korina. What is Korina and is it a good thing or a bad thing to have on a guitar?
BigKahune Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 it's similar to mahaogany. good tone wood. gibson has used it on quite a few models.
Murph Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I've seen Custom Shop SGs made from Korina. What is Korina and is it a good thing or a bad thing to have on a guitar? This sounds like a question for................. AXE.....
TinFish Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Here's a brief article about it off Gibson's site. Pretty much tells you most of what you would want to know though: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/korinawoodmakesgreatguitar/
sunburstfaded Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Perfect answer to a silly question. Thanks.
TinFish Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 No prob SBF. It's not a silly question, I was curious enough at some point to look it up too.
NeoConMan Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I love Korina as much as the next guy, and I'm well aware of it's historical significance. Problem is, the cost/benefit analysis tells me I'll likely never own anything made of it due to its breath-taking cost. Okay, maybe a '58 V reissue... :-)
